Big Winds-Where is the Snow?

December 12, 2008 by staff Leave a Comment

Damaging winds will plague the Lake Tahoe area tonight with gusts as high as 145 mile per hour forecasted over the highest ridges and possible 100 MPH gust here in the Lake Tahoe basin. The precipitation will be light with this first burst of cold air butit appears that we should get a decent dump Sunday through Tuesday. 1-3 feet is my guess right now and it will be light powder. Snowmakers at all Sierra resorts will be able to make snow 24/7 for the foreseeable future however so all resorts should be able to open for the all important Christmas/New Years holiday period!!
