Ryan’s photography history started when he was 10 years old and his parents bought him a Kodak 110 camera for Christmas. Little did he know that his first photo out of his bedroom window would lead him to an eventual career that would combine his passion for technology, art and people. After acquiring the nickname “One Hour Photo” in high school, Ryan attended the University of  Washington where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography. After graduation the call of mountains and streams led him to Sun Valley, Idaho where he managed a photo company for ten years. Responsible for all the on-mountain photography for Sun Valley Company, Ryan honed his skills daily both photographing and printing photos for all his clients. In the Spring of 2009, Ryan took the opportunity to move to another fantastic destination resort and came to the shores of Lake Tahoe. His photography career here may just be beginning, but promises to be exciting and challenging. Just the way he wants it!

Ryan’s clients have ranged from families to Realtors, community corporations, dance studios, athletes, C.E.O.’s, brides and grooms to the  Nature Conservancy and the now infamous Lehman Brothers Inc. But his greatest client is whoever is in front of his lens. His eye, attention to detail and 15 years of skill combine to make everyone look their best. Through study and practice Ryan also continually hones his craft to ensure technical quality in every photograph. Lake Tahoe snow conditions continue to be in fine mid-winter form even with the lengthening days. Temperatures have been downright frigid the past few nights with thermometers bottoming out at just about the (0) zero number! Days have been in the mid 30’s with cloudy and on again off again snow showers. The storm that hit the Lake Tahoe basin earlier in the week left in it’s wake nearly 2 feet at the highest elevations and set the stage for an impressive powder weekend with plenty of stashes still left to be had. Kirkwood claims to have picked up around 28 inches in the past week.

The upcoming week may prove to interesting especially the first part with a cold Gulf of Alaska low forecasted to drop into the Lake Tahoe basin sometime late Monday into Tuesday. Precipitation will not be terribly impressive but the quality should by dynamite! After that things will dry out until another storm rears it’s head next weekend.

Lake Tahoe is having a banner snow year and the conditions for all Lake Tahoe resorts could hardly be better. The Sierra Tract neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe is an esoteric mix of old and new Tahoe with some homes dating back to the earliest part of the 20th century but with many properties being only 5-10 years old.
